This is a quick unboxing and review of the ViewSonic VG2481-4K monitor, a 23.8-inch 4K UHD IPS display featuring HDR400, Type-C with 96W Power Delivery, 10-bit color depth, height adjustment, rotation, and narrow bezels.

I recently purchased a Mac Mini and decided to upgrade my monitor as well. (The Mac Mini hasn't arrived yet, as Apple's shipping is quite slow—it’s expected to arrive in two weeks.)

Simple Review

After powering on and connecting to a computer, the display quality is quite decent.

Using a colorimeter, the brightness under default settings (brightness 100, contrast 70) was measured at 365 cd/㎡.

With both brightness and contrast set to 100, the brightness reached 403 cd/㎡.

The monitor's USB-C port supports fast charging protocols, as shown below. It delivers up to 20V/4.8A, or 96 watts, supporting only the PD protocol.

The USB-C port successfully powered a 60W fill light.

The monitor’s power consumption under default settings is approximately 31W (without connecting additional USB devices).

Color Accuracy Test

Using a Spyder5 colorimeter, the measured average Delta E was 0.28, consistent with the claimed ≤1. The color accuracy is excellent.

The monitor's EDID information shows 99.52% NTSC gamut, 138.22% sRGB gamut, and a manufacturing date of the 45th week of 2024.

Using a colorimeter, the measured gamut coverage is shown below. The dashed line represents the sRGB color gamut, while the colored line represents this monitor’s color gamut.

Thermal Performance

The thermal imaging of the monitor shows that heat is primarily concentrated at the bottom, likely where the backlight is located. The highest temperature recorded was 33.5°C (room temperature around 18°C).
