Last weekend, I went on a trip to Nan'ao Island with my college roommates. We drove from Shenzhen and took some photos to share. On Saturday, when we arrived in Shantou, it was still raining heavily right after the typhoon had passed. But on Sunday (2025.9.21), when we headed to Nan'ao Island, the skies cleared up—lucky for us, the weather turned out perfect for photography.
We drove a full circle around the island, visiting attractions such as the Tropic of Cancer Landmark – "Gate of Nature" and Haiquan Bay. Driving along the coastal ring road was truly scenic and very relaxing.
Because of the typhoon, there weren't many tourists, so the roads were smooth and traffic-free. Nan'ao Bridge is a narrow two-lane (one each way), so it usually gets heavily congested during holidays.
One thing worth complaining about is the traffic in Shantou. E-bikes were darting everywhere, changing lanes without looking, and even riding onto the express lanes. Driving a small car there requires extreme caution—an e-bike can suddenly appear from either side at any moment...
